Background

Synthesis and Exfoliation of Nanomaterials
Karol has expertise in synthesizing and exfoliating two-dimensional materials, including graphene, molybdenum disulfide, and hexagonal boron nitride. Additionally, Karol has worked with iron- or cobalt-filled carbon nanotubes and conductive polymers such as polyaniline, polythiophene, and PEDOT, among others.
Synthesis of ​Nanoparticles
Karol has expertise in synthesis of metallic nanoparticles, including silver and gold, as well as semiconductor nanoparticles like CuO and Cuâ‚‚O. Additionally, she has experience in synthesizing hexacyanometallate particles, such as Prussian blue and its analogues.


Battery Devices
Karol has expertise in electrochemical characterization and material applications, in aqueous and transparent battery devices. Additionally, she has worked with various electrochemical sensors.
Nanomaterials
Characterizition
Karol has experience in nanomaterial characterization, including operating and analyzing data from instruments such as SEM/EDS, Raman, FTIR, UV-Vis, TGA-DSC, and XRD. She also has expertise in analyzing HRTEM data.


Visiting Scholar
Karol participated in an academic exchange for 8 months at Penn State University, advisor by professor Mauricio Terrones. At Penn State she improve her English skills and gaining valuable experience in various synthesis and characterization techniques for two-dimensional materials.
Outreach
In 2022, Karol founded and currently manages the Instagram account of the Materials Chemistry Group for scientific dissemination. The profile has nearly 3,000 followers, with some videos surpassing 22,000 views.
